Program Description
Newspapers hold a wealth of genealogical information. Obituaries are the most sought after articles; but you can often find other clues to an ancestor's past like their marriage, hobbies, clubs they belonged to, or even a criminal past.
Librarian Paul McNeil will discuss what types of articles (good or bad) can surface in historical newspapers, and he'll suggest techniques to make searches more fruitful. Also, learn what free resources exist online and at the library, such as the Indiana State Library's Newspapers.com collection and the Hoosier State Chronicles.
