Week Calendar

This is the third week in a 5-week yoga series (August 3-31) in New Palestine for both beginning and advanced students. Susan Goodart, a certified yoga teacher and fitness adviser, instructs the classes.

Bev Gach will lead a discussion of Martha Hall Kelly's novel Lilac Girls. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to read the book in advance. Ask for a copy at the library’s information desk.

Celebrate 50 years of The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Join us as we read about our favorite caterpillar and hear other popular Eric Carle stories. Then enjoy a snack like that hungry caterpillar.

Share the benefit of monthly get-togethers at the "Hancock County 'As I Recall' Storytelling Guild." Those who attend develop techniques that engage listeners. Meetings are informal and open to anyone interested.

As requested by library users, this monthly club is a social gathering to work on your existing projects in a group setting and glean information from each other. Feel free to sit in.

Teens (grades 6 through 12) design and create pendants for necklaces, keychains, or bracelets. Experiment with an electric engraver pen to personalize your pendant.

Join Librarian and Hancock County Genealogist Paul McNeil for a Genealogy Jam session. This is a time to ask questions, get help researching online, and have informal conversations about genealogy.

Tweens and teens (ages 9 to 18), use your artistic skill and your love of books to decorate our bookends for the new teen area! Make them book-themed or paint creative designs. Snacks are included. 

Kids in grades K-5, learn about natural disasters at this hands-on STEM program. We’ll simulate a volcanic eruption, a hurricane, and an earthquake, and talk about the types of structures that can best survive these terrifying events.

Adults who love reading novels written for teens are invited to a discussion in New Palestine. August's feature is Breaking Beautiful by Jennifer Shaw Wolf. We encourage you to read the book in advance.

Join a community of writers who gather for inspiration and support. People who attend this monthly meeting, whether they are published or not, discuss their work and give each other mutual encouragement.

Killers of the Flower Moon, by David Grann, is the featured book for discussion in New Palestine.
