Library Closed Until Further Notice

Description

Our buildings remain closed at this time while we prepare to begin accepting returns.
Our drop boxes will open on Monday, May 11. Please take your time returning materials - we will not be charging late fees.

In an effort to protect the high-risk populations that we serve, as well as minimize the potential exposure/transmission of COVID-19, the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield and the Sugar Creek Branch in New Palestine remain closed to the public at this time. All Bookmobile stops and in-person events have been cancelled.

In accordance with Governor Holcomb's Roadmap to Safely Reopen Indiana, we will begin to increase our services, while remaining cautious to protect the health of our community.
Our current plan to increase services is as follows. Please visit https://hcplibrary.org for updates, as this plan is subject to change, under the guidance of local government officials:

  • Monday, May 11: Book drops in Greenfield and New Palestine will open to accept returns of materials.
  • Monday, May 18: Curbside service will begin. Orders will be taken on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday pickup. To request an item for pickup, please place a hold in our online catalog.
(See how to place a hold)

Our digital services (ebooks, audiobooks, movies, TV shows, music, and learning tools) remain available 24/7 at https://hcplibrary.org/online and we will continue to offer online storytimes and crafts on Facebook. If you need assistance with your account, need a reading recommendation, or help with our online materials, please send us a message at any time, or chat with a Librarian Monday through Friday, 12:00 - 5:00 PM at https://hcplibrary.org/reference/ask.htm Thank you for your continued support, and happy reading!

Until we re-open, please visit https://hcplibrary.org for the current status of library events, hours, and operation. Or follow our social media channels on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram for updates on our closure and tips for making the most of Digital Library Resources.
