Program Description

Long gone are the days where a genealogist would have to spend hours in front of a clunky microfilm reader. Thanks to digitization, newspapers are easier than ever to access and search online. Librarian and County Genealogist Paul McNeil will briefly go over why newspapers are a great genealogical resource, how to access digital newspapers at the library and at home, and useful search methods. He will primarily focus on Hancock County and a few other notable Indiana newspapers.

After the presentation, attendees can research ancestors in our computer lab with other genealogy enthusiasts. The focus of the night will be newspapers but those in attendance are welcome to use the library's free Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, and HeritageQuest databases.

Please note the 6:00 p.m. start time.
