Local Greenfield author Kurt Vetters presents two books on the American Civil War.
Vetters is a former US Army Cavalry Captain and Civil War Reenactor. His passion is telling the stories of the regular soldiers who lived, fought, and died in the greatest cataclysm the United States has ever seen.
Serving as executive officer of Delta Company, 1st Battalion 40th Armor, Vetters was awarded two Army Commendation Medals. His military career began in the Alabama National Guard where, one weekend each month, his unit would train on tanks; and the next weekend many of the soldiers would reenact a Civil War cavalry unit. This confluence of events as a young officer drives much of Vetters’ stories.
Vetters is from Sheffield, Alabama, having lived most of his life in Greenfield. He appears as part of our "Local Author Showcase" series, which features monthly readings, signings, and presentations from local and regional authors.
