Attorneys will present a workshop on common legal issues related to consumer rights and debt collection, including:

  • Identity Theft
  • Fair Credit Reporting Act (which regulates the accuracy and privacy of information in credit reports)
  • Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (which makes it illegal for debt collectors to use abusive, unfair, or deceptive practices in collecting debts)
  • Responding to garnishment proceedings and other debt collection complaints. 

Forms and examples will be available for all participants. This free workshop is provided in collaboration with the law firm of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath, Indiana Legal Services, and Pro Bono Indiana.
