Food for Fines

Program Description

During National Library Week, April 9-14, those with fines on their Hancock County Public Library cards will have them waived in exchange for non-perishable food in cans or boxes or for unopened toilet paper, toiletries, or laundry detergent (which food stamps don't cover). Baby care items are also welcome. These essentials will help stock the Hancock County Food Pantry.

Bring donations to the library check-out desks. Each item equals a dollar off fines, up to five dollars maximum. Food for Fines does not include replacement fees for lost or damaged materials or collection agency fees.
