Local author Kurt Vetters will present an engaging narrative of Hancock County's settlement and its military legacy from the Revolutionary War to current conflicts.
Vetters is a former US Army Cavalry Captain and Civil War re-enactor. His passion is telling the stories of regular soldiers who lived, fought and died in the Civil War, the greatest cataclysm the United States has ever seen. He has authored two historical novels Confederate Winter and Freedom Spring.
He served as Executive Officer of Delta Company, 1st Battalion 40th Armor and was awarded two Army Commendation Medals. He is a former American Legion Post Commander and is currently their communications officer.
Vetters is originally from Sheffield, Alabama, but grew up in Birmingham. He lives in Greenfield and works out of Greenfield, Louisville, and Nashville. He is currently the vice president of a medical supply company and serves on several boards of directors.
