Program Description

Twin brothers Christopher and Nicholas Burrus perform as the folk duo "Willoughby Sprig" during this free concert.

Christopher's interest in folk traditions and obscure musical instruments led him to learn the mandolin, banjo, button box and hurdy-gurdy. He writes much of the music the brothers play and finds inspiration in old bridges, fine ships and phantoms.

Nicholas has mastered mountain dulcimer, harmonium, violin, whistle and many other instruments. Majoring in harp performance and art in college, he co-founded Willoughby Sprig with his brother to pursue composition on folk instruments, melancholic wanderings, and travel narratives in music.

This free concert is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Hancock County Public Library through the sale of donated books, DVDs, CDs and video games. The next donation date is November 13, from 9 AM to 5 PM in Greenfield.
