SpeakerProgram Description
Adrienne Provenzano takes the stage as Mary Shelley, author of Frankenstein, in an intimate, one-woman show.
During this dynamic portrayal, Shelley reveals her life, love, and losses and how she transformed her experiences into art. Shelley considers the creative process in depth, comparing different versions of Frankenstein and putting her life as a 19th-century literary woman into historical context. Shelley also converses with audience members on how creative expression plays a role in their own lives.
The novel Frankenstein is 200 years old this year. Published in 1818 by 19-year-old Mary Shelley, the story of Victor Frankenstein and his “creature” has not only managed to survive, it has become one of the most important novels of our time.
