Program Description

Families, people of all ages, the "Nature Nook" in the children's room is expanding with an outdoor garden. During our community dig, come lend a hand as we prepare the garden beds and put in some plants that attract birds, butterflies and bees. We'll also create garden crafts to decorate the new space. Feel free to bring gardening tools from home and dress for dirt. Snacks will be provided.

There's no need to sign up. Meet outside in the back field by the picnic tables. In case of rain, families may come to the youth program room to make decorative crafts for the garden.

Leadership Hancock County has partnered with Home Depot and the Hancock County Master Gardeners Assn. to design the Nature Nook garden.

A big THANK YOU to these local businesses, organizations, and individuals who have sponsored the garden project with donations or materials:  Fiano Landscapes, Frady’s Lawn & Landscape, Fralich’s Landscape, Friends of the Hancock County Public Library, Hancock County Master Gardeners Association, Hancock Regional Hospital, Home Depot, Joyce and Mike Holmes (gravel and rocks), Marlin’s Plant Kingdom, Sunnyside Greenhouses, Barrie Wainwright (tires), and Wells Nursery.
