Program Description
The Friends of HCPLibrary welcome Indiana author John David Anderson on March 7 at 6:00 p.m. His books for young people include One Last Shot; Finding Orion; Posted; Sidekicked; Ms. Bixby’s Last Day, a New York Times Editor’s Choice and an ALA Notable Book; and Granted, a 2019-2020 Young Hoosier Book Award finalist. His books for middle grades students span genres from science fiction to sports fiction. We look forward to welcoming students and families to this event, which is free and open to all.
His appearance will be the first in the Susie Billings Lecture Series, devoted to the memory of Susie, who was the treasurer of the Friends of the Hancock County Public Library for many years.
John David Anderson is the award-winning, best-selling author of several novels for young readers. His books have sold more than a half million copies, have been published in multiple languages, and have earned multiple starred reviews from Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, and School Library Journal. His works frequently appear on state reading lists and many have been Junior Library Guild selections. When he’s not writing, John visits schools and classrooms in the U.S. and abroad, both in person and virtually, inspiring young people to harness the power of their imaginations and share their stories. Prior to becoming a novelist, he taught literature and composition at the University of Illinois. He currently lives in Indianapolis with his wife, two children, and cat Smudge.
