Program Description

Hear the versatile voices of Paul Holdman and Rebekah Meldrum. With Holdman on guitar, they make a dynamic duo of blues mixed with gospel.

Holdman brings the eclectic musical listings of a jukebox in a roadside diner. He grew up listening to the radio and his parents' vinyl records. This exposed Holdman to the music of Jimmy Reed, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and the Ventures. After moving to Indianapolis in 1985, he got his first guitar and never looked back.

Meldrum grew up as a Baptist minister's daughter in southern California and from early on, found her voice in church, singing alongside her father. It was there that a musician was born. Her soulful and effortless bluesy voice has been influenced by her parents' collection of "the classics," such as the Beatles, the Temptations, Koko Taylor, Mavis Staples, the Beach Boys, Elvis Presley, Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, the Band, the Who, Johnny Cash, and the list goes on.

After Holdman and Meldrum collaborated with others on a new album, "In the Hands of God," they began a trial gig, in 2014, to see if the music they were creating was something people wanted to hear. After getting the opportunity to open for one of Nashville's greats, Phil Madeira in 2015, the duo was born.

In 2016, Holdman and Meldrum won first place in the Southern-Central Indiana Blues challenge solo/duo category. The following year, they represented the SCI Blues in Memphis, Tennessee, at the International Blues Society's annual convention and Blues Challenge competition.

"Live at the Slippery Noodle," a mix of soulful Delta-style blues, mixed with the big city sounds of Chicago, is their latest album with an original solo album by Meldrum in the works.
