Program Description

The Hancock County Master Gardeners will host a free "Green Thumb Project" event in collaboration with the Hancock County Public Library.

Author, blogger, and eccentric gardener Carol Michel is the featured speaker. She will present "Twelve Secrets to Happiness in Your Garden," based on a lifetime of gardening experience, wisdom and charming humor. If audience members haven't found joy in their garden experience, what can they change?

Michel, who holds a bachelor’s degree in horticulture production from Purdue University, has written Potted & Pruned: Living a Gardening Life (awarded the 2018 Garden Media Awards Gold Medal for "Best Overall Book"), Homegrown and Handpicked: A Year in a Gardening Life, Seeded and Sodded: Thoughts from a Gardening Life, and The Christmas Cottontail: A Story for Gardeners of All Ages.

She is an avid collector of old gardening books and claims to have the largest hoe collection in the world. Michel regularly writes for Indiana Gardening and posts articles on her award-winning garden blog, May Dreams Gardens.
